Top 4 Reasons to Have Your Pool Inspected This Fall

Getting your pool inspected in the fall can make for a much easier winter.

Here in South Florida, we’re able to use our pools virtually all year long. This can make pool maintenance more complicated than it is in colder climates. After all, if there’s no season of the year when your pool must be closed and can’t be used at all, how do you know when to schedule inspections and routine maintenance?

The truth is that you can request a pool inspection at any time of the year – and pool repair should happen as soon as you notice a problem. But if you’re looking for one particular time to mark on your calendar for an annual inspection, the team here at Leak Works would recommend fall and early winter. Here’s why.

1. It’s easier to get pool repairs taken care of when you’re not using the pool every day.

It certainly is possible to use your pool in winter here in South Florida, but you’ll probably use your pool less in winter than you do during the heat of summer. So if you get your pool inspected in the fall, you’ll have the entire winter season to schedule any repairs you might need. Plus, the busier your family is with work, school, and the hustle and bustle of the holidays, the less likely you are to miss (or have time for) using your pool.

2. If your pool heater has problems, you want them caught before winter.

One of the most important parts of a pool inspection is ensuring the pool heater is still working as expected. While you might not notice your pool heater isn’t running well during the summer – or even be grateful! – a malfunctioning pool heater can render your pool unusable in winter. That’s why it’s best to schedule an inspection in the early fall, just in case.

3. Colder temperatures can make pool problems worse.

While South Florida almost never sees proper snowfall, freezing temperatures do happen – and freezing temperatures can wreak havoc on a fragile pool. The last thing you want is for a freeze-and-thaw cycle, however brief, to cause or widen cracks in your pool’s foundation or walls or to send failing equipment completely offline. A pool inspection in the fall will catch those problems early and ensure your pool can weather whatever winter brings.

4. It’s never the wrong time of year for leak repair.

Pool leaks are expensive, and a significant or prolonged leak can end up damaging your pool. The sooner any leak is found and fixed, the better. This is why routine inspections are such a good idea. You might not notice a pool leak right away, but a trained and qualified inspector will – and that inspector will be able to help you get that leak fixed.
